An American Elephant in Tokushima

Graduation Vacation

Posted by: elephantdreams on: March 1, 2009

Today was Graduation for every high school in Japan. March 1 is always HS graduation day, regardless of what day of the week it is… and so, since this year it’s a Sunday, I get a substitute holiday on Monday to make up for it!!

HOORAY!!!

Graduation was alright. Everyone was dressed as if for a funeral (the death of your so-called youth?), and the official graduation music is Auld Lang Syne, instead of Pomp and Circumstance. I wore a suit and ate a big huge free bento afterwards.

But the best part is…. because my substitute holiday is Monday, there is no musical rehearsal to wake up for, and I can sleep in!!! For the first time in a long time!! Of course, “sleeping in” will probably mean that my body will wake up at 7 like clockwork, but at least tomorrow I have the option of going back to sleep.

HOORAY! HOORAY!!

Rehearsal for the musical is feeling better and better.
